The door phone is a very convenient device that solves many problems. Its advantages are obvious: now you will have a personal "peephole" working remotely, you will not have to go out to meet guests or "first aid", shout through the door "who is there?", Etc. If there is still no doorphone in your private home, think about its connection, which is quite realistic to do with your own hands.
How to connect a doorphone yourself?
First, you need to choose a model. There are two types of intercoms:
- audio doorphones - the most simple and budget option. It is ideal for apartment buildings, where a kind of buffer between the front door and the apartment is a closed entrance. This intercom consists of an audio-tube and a calling device installed from the outside;
- video intercoms are more expensive devices equipped with a video camera. They are more preferable for private houses and allow not only to hear the guest, but also to see his face and surrounding environment.
Secondly, you should choose the installation location. This can be a standard scheme, in which the calling device is located on the outside of the gate, and the intercom itself - inside the room. Also, there are options for 2-channel systems, which allow the installation of electric locks not only on the gate, but also on the front door of the house.
The third point in connecting a doorphone in a private house or apartment will be laying wires and cables for signal transmission. This part of the work should be planned before the finish, if you are undergoing repairs. To the place where the intercom will be installed, it is necessary to withdraw the power cable to 220 V.
And, finally, the fourth - directly connect the intercom. The scheme of its connection can vary significantly depending on which model of a particular firm you purchased. When connecting, you should rely only on the "native" instruction, carefully studying it before starting work. For example, we suggest you familiarize yourself with the video intercom circuit with an electric lock.
Depending on the design, the intercom can be equipped with plug connectors or screw terminals. If your model is equipped with several channels, the audio, power and video signals are connected in parallel. A conventional video intercom requires a four-wire cord, and if necessary, an electric lock is connected to the intercom with a six-wire cord. If you do not plan to install a lock, and the intercom will only serve as an intercom, then the corresponding wires should be isolated.
