Why is this book worth reading? To begin with, this is a very good story, and a very good translator translated it. It is not didactic, there are many questions in it, which are left to the discretion of attentive readers. Here are the topics in it that were important to me: learned inaction, responsibility for choice, self-sacrifice, insignificant nature of evil, vulgarity of evil.
