Bed-transformer with your own hands

Beds transformed into other pieces of furniture are in demand due to the opportunity to save space in the room. For example, a bed-cabinet allows you to release space in the room during the day and comfortably rest at night.

Alternatively, a similar bed-transformer can be made by hand without special skills and specific equipment. This is the most simple option for self-construction.

Making beds - materials and tools

To make a folding bed-transformer, you will need a folding mechanism with shock absorbers, which allows you to press the sleeping place to the wall and disguise it under a normal cabinet. And also the following materials with tools:

Build process

  1. MDF is purchased and the necessary details are cut. Then you need to assemble the frame for the cabinet. The prepared parts are unfolded, holes are drilled on the long sides for the folding mechanism.
  2. Shrinkable pieces of furniture will be confirmed. For this, holes are pre-drilled in the right places. The Confirmat is screwed with a screwdriver or special key. His hat is closed with a plastic cap.
  3. The base of the cabinet is connected to its side panels.
  4. The plywood stop is fixed to the top of the cabinet.
  5. In the middle of the construction a beam is fixed to strengthen the frame. To it the bottom stop from the plywood is fixed.
  6. The next stage is the mounting of the folding bed. The corners are fastened with the side arms of the bed with its lower and upper racks. This is an important point of assembly - in these places the bed experiences heavy loads during operation.
  7. Under the size of the bed you need to purchase a base with bent lamellas. An orthopedic base is inserted and attached to the sidewalls with self-tapping screws.
  8. The foot of the bed is assembled and fastened to the base.
  9. As the facade of the cabinet, improvised doors are used. They can be decorated at will, even by mirrors. The sleeping place is attached to the facade panels with the help of small metal corners for durability.
  10. A flap mechanism is attached to the side plates of the base. He will raise the frame with the mattress and fix it in an upright position.
  11. The cabinet is placed in its place, it can be attached to the wall. The bed frame is inserted into the cabinet.
  12. To the cabinet is fixed a fixed part of the folding mechanism.
  13. Straps are attached to the frame of the bed. They will hold the mattress when the bed rises to a vertical position.
  14. The shock absorbers are inserted into the folding mechanism.
  15. The handle is attached to the doors, for which the bed will be lowered to a horizontal position. The cabinet curtain is also the foot of the bed. Transformer is ready. In the assembled state, the model fits perfectly into the interior.
  16. If desired, you can make a horizontal bed-transformer yourself. In this case, the bed is built into a lower niche by reclining the side.

The compactness and attractiveness of this bed will be in demand for a modern interior in a confined space. It is stylish, functional and takes up minimum space.
