Swing gates

Swing gates are the most traditional and widespread in the post-Soviet space. From their name it is clear that they open, flinging open their doors to you.

Such gates are easy to manufacture and use, in many respects due to this their cost is relatively low. Modern technologies allow to produce automatic drives to them, so that in terms of its convenience and functionality this type of gate is not much inferior to other newer models.

Advantages of swing gates with automation

The main advantages of such gates are in their simple and reliable design. In addition, as already mentioned, their cost is low, while using them is quite comfortable both in automatic and manual mode.

Other advantages include the fact that the doors of such gates can be with an interesting, memorable design, for example, with forged elements. Open modern swing gates can both inside and out.

If the opening is not limited in height, that is - it's not garage doors, but entrance gates, they do not interfere with passing vehicles of any height. For convenience, most models of swing gates provide the presence of a gate.

Disadvantages of swinging garage and entrance gates

The minus of swing gates, both garage doors and those that are part of the fence around the house, is the need to clear snow before using them. If the snow shovel is inside the garage, this can be a problem.

Also, inconvenience may be the lack of sufficient space for their disclosure in a dense housing environment. For their functioning, there is a constant presence of a sufficiently large free space.

Another drawback - the need to purchase two electric drives (for each leaf separately), which doubles the cost.

Material of swing gates

The most common are metal swing gates, including forged ones , from rolled metal and profiled sheets. The second most popular place is the wooden gate. However, all supporting structures and frame are made of rolled metal, and only the doors are lined with wooden crate.

There is also a variant with insulated sandwich panels. This is relevant if the garage door. In this case, you will be able to keep the garage more acceptable temperature during the cold weather. In the case of an entrance gate, such a decision would be superfluous.

Rules for the installation of swing gates

If you are talking about the gate, you, in the first place, need pillars. If they are not available, you need to start by installing them. They must be concreted to the ground to a depth of at least 1 meter.

Pillars can be concrete, stone, brick with concreted and reinforced foundations. Also, a metal profile pipe of 10x10 cm cross section or a bar made of hardwoods is also suitable. If the posts are metal, it is necessary to cover them with an anticorrosive primer and allow them to dry thoroughly.

The next stage will be the welding of rectangular or square frames of future swing gates. For this, a profile pipe with a section of 60x30x2 mm is needed. When the frames are ready and properly processed, you need to sew them with linen, using profiled sheeting, sheet steel or wood.

When all the gate elements are ready, it remains to mount the flaps on the supporting posts using metal hinges. If you want the swing gates to be automatic, you need to purchase and install two electric drives, which will drive the gate when exposed to them from the remote control.
