Types of silhouettes

Silhouette in translation from French is an external outline of any object, that is its shadow. Applying this term to clothing, it can be said that this is a flat, visual perception of three-dimensional shapes that have distinct outer contours in the form of a shadow.

Types of silhouettes in clothes

Types of silhouettes are characterized by the principle of attitude to the figure, so there are 5 main types of silhouettes:

Let us consider each of them in detail.

A fitted silhouette is a silhouette that fits snugly around the waist. The volume of the upper part can also be adjacent or have a free shape.

The adjoining silhouette tightly adjoins on the basic girths: hips, waist and chest. The products of this silhouette are sewn with darts, for maximum emphasis on the natural curves of the figure.

The semi-adjacent form of the silhouette occupies an intermediate position between the small volume straight and the fitted silhouettes. In general, it repeats the shape of the figure, but the waist line can be moved above or below its usual position in the product.

The straight silhouette is characterized by a straight geometric shape. Products can have a clearly expressed form, and can be undefined in form. A vivid example of an indefinite form of direct silhouette is the jacket-park.

The extended silhouette resembles the shape of a trapezoid. The products of such a silhouette can be free over the entire length or by a fixed belt around the waist.

Types of skirts by silhouette

There is a huge number of different types of skirts, but you can highlight the main ones: a pencil skirt, a pleated skirt, a sun skirt , a mini skirt and a skirt in the floor. All of them can safely get along in the wardrobe of any girl and dress depending on the event, time of year and mood.
