Jolie honors World Refugee Day
15 years ago, the UN General Assembly established the World Refugee Day, which is celebrated on June 20. On this day, it is customary to recall not only internally displaced persons and refugees, but also those who help them.
On this occasion, the movie star was visited by the US State Department, where in her speech she tried to draw attention to this difficult problem. Angelina, having risen on a tribune, has said such words:
"To date, the world community is faced with the fact that 65 million live as internally displaced persons or refugees. This is a sad figure and we can not close our eyes to it. It must be understood that these people have nothing to blame. They are victims of wars, which one after another are untied on the planet. Our country must unite with others in order to end violence and this horror. We should not pretend that nothing is happening and turn our backs on unhappy people. Believe me, they are experiencing such difficulties that alone they can never cope with. We must do everything to ensure that refugees can return to their homes and their land. Now this is the only correct way out, which will be the beginning of peace on earth. "
All the time of the visit to Angelina Jolie in the State Department was accompanied by John Kerry. After the celebrity speech, the US Secretary of State said a few words to her:
