You should pay attention to the slider of the knife - if it is plastic and has a rather dubious appearance, then most likely it is not a construction knife, but a clerical knife that is not suitable for applying force. Because of the pressing mechanism leaves their structure very quickly and ceases to fix the blade.

The most durable of the construction knives presented in construction shops are those equipped with a metal wheel and the knife itself is also made of metal. But when buying, you should be careful not to accidentally purchase a knife made of mild steel, but stainless steel will be just right.
The most common is a knife with replaceable blades 25 mm in size - it is quite powerful and suitable for most jobs. But the blades for the construction knife 18 mm are thinner and will fit only for small work - sharpening a pencil or cutting off wallpaper.
