If you want to fully enjoy the country holiday, you have to take care of protecting yourself from bloodsucking insects, including mosquitoes. This can be done in various ways and means - from independent attempts to reduce the mosquito population to the professional assistance of pest control.
Self-control of mosquitoes on the site
The easiest way is to use a cream, lotion or spray from mosquitoes. These remedies are based on the scent of insects. In their composition there are substances and extracts of plants that mosquitoes do not tolerate, therefore they do not fly close. However, this method is rather primitive and is more suitable in conditions of a short trip, rather than a seasonal stay at the dacha.
You can also use fumigants and repellents, but I must say that they are effective in enclosed spaces, that is, directly in the house. And on the street you can set fire to the so-called spring from mosquitoes and try to find yourself in the area of smoke from it. In this case, you yourself breathe in an unpleasant smell and smoke, which is not useful at all.
Other methods are the use of ultrasonic repellents, gas traps and lamps from mosquitoes and other insects. Their action is more prolonged and effective, besides more comfortable for people. You simply turn on the device next to you and calmly spend the evening on the street, without fearing the bites of insects.
Traditional methods of fighting mosquitoes
As the preventive and harmless for human means of fighting mosquitoes in the suburban area you can use the following tips:
- plant tomatoes on the plot - their sharp odor repels insects;
- plant next to the rest area tansy and wormwood - these medicinal plants also frighten mosquitoes with their sharp smell;
- during the breeding of the fire throw the leaves of mint into the fire - they act as a temporary remedy.
As a preventive measure for the appearance of mosquitoes on the site you need:
- tightly cover with lids or film barrels and other containers with water, located on the site, and also change the water in them at least once a week;
- when watering, make sure that no long-drying puddles form on the site and generally try not to wet the soil;
- do not allow the thickening of bushes and the growth of weed grass.
Professional fight against mosquitoes on the street
It must be said that a real effective fight against mosquitoes involves a professional approach with the involvement of specialists. The use of pest control involves working in two stages:
- First, mosquito larvae are found and destroyed to prevent the appearance of new insects. At this stage, ditches, barrels of water and other containers, banks of reservoirs and other moist places are treated with special chemicals from mosquito larvae. Also, attics and cellars are being processed.
- Further, the destruction of mosquitoes directly. For this, strong direct contact preparations are used, safe for humans and domestic animals, but harmful for mosquitoes and ticks.
During the performance of these works, the presence of people and animals is inadmissible on site, with the exception of a pest control dressed in a protective suit and mask. Depending on the availability of various objects (trees, hozpostroik, bushes, wetlands) on the site, the processing time can vary from 3 to 10 minutes. During treatment, the weather should be dry, with no precipitation on the day of treatment and in the subsequent 3 days.
Efficiency of treatment is maintained for 1-2.5 months depending on the weather conditions. With abundant precipitation, the activity of drugs decreases more rapidly than in dry weather. On average, for the summer season, 1 or 2 such treatments are required.
