So, let's consider what is a hydrophilic oil for the face, how to use it, and most importantly, how to prepare it yourself at home.

Why do I need hydrophilic oil?

Hydrophilic oil represents the newest level of cosmetology. Its main purpose is soft, gentle, but at the same time a deep cleansing of the skin from make-up, contaminants and cutaneous secretions. Particularly in need of such care is sensitive, prone to dryness and irritation of the skin.

As you know, ordinary oil can not be mixed with water. Due to its unique composition, hydrophilic oil is able to dissolve in water. This is achieved by adding to the vegetable oils special compounds - emulsifiers, which are designed to bind molecules of immiscible liquids and create emulsions. Upon contact with water, the hydrophilic oil is transformed into white foam milk, which is washed off perfectly from the skin.

The emulsifier contained in the hydrophilic oil also ensures the dissolution of fatty and waxy contaminants that accumulate in the pores of the skin and the removal of them to the outside. At the same time, natural oils have a moisturizing, nutritious and soothing effect on the skin during the cleansing process.

How to make a hydrophilic oil by yourself?

All recipes for the preparation of hydrophilic oil with their own hands are based on the mixing of the three components. Let us dwell on them in more detail.

Base vegetable oil

When preparing the hydrophilic oil, it is possible to use both a single base oil and a combination of several (usually two to five) oils. The choice of oil is recommended, based on the type and needs of the skin. For example, you can use these recommendations:

  1. For normal and combination skin - peach oil, sweet almonds, apricot kernels.
  2. For oily skin - grape seed oil, jojoba, sesame, hazelnut.
  3. For dry skin - avocado oil, linseed, olive, shea, coconut.
  4. For the aging - oil of wheat germ, walnut, macadamia, dogrose.

The share of the base vegetable oil in the preparation can vary from 50% (for oily skin) to 90% (for dry, flaky skin).

Emulsifier

As a rule, Polysorbate-80 is used as emulsifier. This is a plant substance, which is most often obtained from olive oil. The content of the emulsifier in the finished mixture should be 10-50%.

Essential oil

Dosage of essential oils in a hydrophilic oil manufactured at home should not exceed 10%. Selecting essential oil, you should also be guided by the skin type:

  1. For normal and combination skin - oil of geranium , juniper, lemon balm.
  2. For oily skin - oil of grapefruit, lemon, rosemary, tea tree.
  3. For dry skin - rose oil, jasmine, orange, bergamot.
  4. For the aging - oil of patchouli, roses, myrrh, neroli.

It should be borne in mind that if hydrophilic oil is planned to be used to purify the eyelids, then essential oils should not be added in order to avoid irritation. The prepared hydrophilic oil should be stored in a container of dark glass.

How to use hydrophilic oil?

Before use, the vial with the product should be shaken. Apply hydrophilic oil to a dry face, carefully distributed, and then washed off with lukewarm water. Next, you need to wash your face with foam or gel to wash off the particles of undissolved oil.
