Exposition and exhibitions

Lium is a private museum owned by Samsung. It is located in the lively area of Seoul , Yongsan. At the same time, the surroundings of Lium are very picturesque, because it is located on Mount Namsan , from where a chic view of the Han River opens.

However, you can admire the panorama of the city in any other place, but to discover the modern Korean masters of the brush will help only Lium. Its internal space is conditionally divided into 2 parts, in which both modernity and tradition are revealed. In addition, a number of works by foreign artists are presented here. The building itself was designed by two architects - the Frenchman Sean Novell and the Swiss Mario Botta.

The exposition devoted to the traditions of the Korean people acquaints visitors with books, ceramics, displays of Buddhist art, paintings and calligraphy. Over 140 exhibits are collected on 4 floors of the museum, revealing the period right up to the Joseon Dynasty. By the way, this collection is recognized as the best of its kind throughout the country.

The hall of modernity shows guests more than 70 exhibits demonstrating the development of Korean art from 1910. Here is also the work of foreign artists, beginning in 1945.

The cost of admission to Lyum is about $ 9, for children from 3 to 18 years - $ 5. On Saturdays and Sundays there are free guided tours in English. Weekdays require pre-registration.
