Thrumching National Park


Butane is an exotic country, surprising with its color. There is something to see and where to take a walk. In particular, many tourists devote time to the study of local national parks, of which there are four in Bhutan. Tkhrumshin National Park is located in the central part of the country. Features of the park

Due to the fact that the territory of the park lies in several high-altitude belts, Tkhrumshing is characterized by a wide variety of biomes. This had a great influence on the flora and fauna of the park. Here grows 622 species of plants, among them 152 species of medicinal plants and 21 species of endemic for Bhutan flora. Large tracts of coniferous forests are protected by the state and the managing organization Bhutanese Trust Fund.

It is also interesting that Bhutan parks are peculiar biological corridors - such animals as Bengal tigers, snow leopards, smoky leopards, Himalayan bears move freely across their vast territory. There live langurs, deer, red pandas, etc. In total, 68 species of mammals inhabit the Tkhrumshing National Park in Bhutan . Among 341 species of birds there are very rare: Nepalese kalao, beautiful nuthatch, red-breasted partridge, rosy-tailed Asian trogon, short-stemmed thyme, etc.

In the natural environment of the National Park Tkhrumshin live more than 11 000 people. Most group excursions to the park include visiting the villages and getting to know the locals.

How to get to Thrumching Park?

Thrumching lies to the west of the town of Mongar. The most convenient way to get from Thimphu is first there, and then on the excursion bus drive up to the central gate of the park. You can also drive to the park from the city of Jakar .

In addition, keep in mind that the territory of the park is a motor road - the highest mountain in Bhutan. It is called the Lateral Road. Here is the Thrumshin-la Pass, or Donga. It is the second tallest in Bhutan and connects the center of the country with the east. However, in winter it is better not to use this route - because of heavy snowfalls and icing the path through the pass becomes very dangerous for travelers.
