Los Angeles is not only the skyscrapers and the stars of Hollywood.

But, not all these places are on the territory of the city itself.

1. Chapel of the Wanderers (Wayfarers Chapel)

Location: Rancho Palos Verdes

This beautiful church overlooking the Pacific Ocean was furnished with the son of Frank Lloyd Wright (Lloyd Wright), in the late 1940s. If you watched the series "Lonely Hearts", then you could see this church in the first, second and fourth seasons.

2. Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens (Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens)

This magnificent research institute has an impressive collection of European art of the 18th and 19th centuries. The library is also surrounded by 120 acres of Botanical Gardens, which include the huge "Desert Garden" and the majestic "Japanese Garden".

3. The House of Eames (Eames House)

Location: Pacific Palisades

This historic landmark was created by Charles and Ray Eames in 1949 as a house that harmonized with nature and met the needs of people after World War II. This house was modernized by Ice Cube.

4. Getty Villa (The Getty Villa)

Location: Pacific Palisades

Getty Villa is part of the larger J. Paul Getty Museum and serves as an educational center for ancient Greek and Roman art. It is also home to the UCLA Master's Program (University of California, Los Angeles) in Archeology and Ethnography.

5. Mount Baden-Powell (Mount Baden-Powell)

Location: San Gabriel Mountains

From the mountains of Baden-Powell, you have an incredible view of such landscapes that you are unlikely to find anywhere else in Los Angeles. These mountains are ideal for hiking, they were named after Lord Baden-Powell, who founded the Boy Scouts Movement in 1907.

6. Building Bradbury or Bradbury-Building (Bradbury Building)

This famous architectural landmark was shown in more than 63 feature films and TV shows, including Blade Runner, 500 Days of Summer, Chinatown, Dead on Demand and Artist. It is also the oldest commercial building in the city.

7. The shrine of the Lake of the Self-Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine

Location: Pacific Palisades

This "spiritual sanctuary" was founded in the 1950 guru of meditation by Paramahansa Yogananda and is home to a huge number of plants and animals from all corners of the globe. It is an extremely popular destination among tourists who want to relax and find peace of mind in their life.

8. The last bookstore (The Last Bookstore)

Location: Downtown Los Angeles

"The Last Bookstore" is California's largest new bookshop, but it's already very popular with book lovers thanks to its impressive collection of books and a relaxing atmosphere. There are also arranged musical performances, meetings of various communities and lovers of literature.

9. Gardens of Virginia Robinson (Virginia Robinson Gardens)

Location: Beverly Hills

This chic estate was the private residence of Virginia Dryden Robinson and her husband, Harry Winchester Robinson, who was the heir of "Robinson & Co". The home gardens are now run by the District of Los Angeles and they are open to public excursions.

10. Watts Towers

Location: South of Los Angeles

These beautiful sculptures were built for 33 years (1921 - 1954) by the Italian immigrant Sabato ("Simon") Rodia. The structure was originally called "Nuestro Pueblo" ("Nuestro Pueblo"), meaning "our city".

11. Descanso Gardens

Location: La CaƱada Flintridge

This 150-acre botanical garden is especially popular nearer to Easter, when tulips are only blooming. Also popular for visits are: a lilac garden, a Japanese tea house and a bird sanctuary.

12. Murphy Ranch

This abandoned Nazi base was built in 1933 by Winona and Norman Stevens. Soon the base was equipped with a diesel power station, a 375,000-gallon water tank, a giant meat refrigerator, 22 bedrooms and a bomb shelter. The site now belongs to the city of Los Angeles, and despite repeated calls for its demolition, it remains a popular tourist attraction for travelers and tourists.
