Arkhyz - tourist attractions

Arkhyz is a fairy-tale corner of Karachaevo-Cherkessia, which strikes even those who have seen wonderful kinds of tourists with their unearthly beauty. The village, as if lost in the majestic Caucasus Mountains, was surrounded by not a single dozen lakes, the high-mountain rivers are washed and beside it beautiful waterfalls fall.

Lakes, rivers, waterfalls

Along with the beauty of the " 33 waterfalls " that in Lazarevsky, only those that are in Arkhyz can be compared. The most famous sights of the village are the Sofia and Dukkin lakes, located at different levels of the mountains. The group of Sofia lakes, which belong to the Sofia river basin, are the most high-mountainous, they are at an altitude of 2810 meters.

Dukka lakes, respectively, belong to the Dukka river basin. This river together with others, such as Pshish, Kizgych, Arkhyz and Sophia, originate from the snow ridge of the famous Caucasian ridge. And it is these rivers, fanning themselves towards the Arkhyz Basin, giving the beginning to the Greater Zelenchuk, which got its name, probably thanks to its blue-green waters of amazing, simply crystalline purity.

Also in walking distance from the village of Arkhyz - Baritoviy Falls. Barite waterfall is located in the Barite Gap, where at the beginning of the last century minerals were mined barite. The name of the waterfall and the beam was obtained from the barite - a white crystal, which is usually used to produce white paint and other industries.

Noteworthy is not only the waterfall itself, but also the gorge, which you need to cross in order to get directly to the waterfall. To do this, you need to cross the stream to the left bank and there, among the hazel groves, to find the path leading to the upper part of the Baritovaya gutter. And so, having overcome a difficult path, you arrived at the famous waterfall of Arkhyz.

So, the Baritovy waterfall is the crystal streams and ribbons that fall from a steep rocky hill. Here lies the upper border of the forest, from where a magnificent view of the village and its surrounding landscapes opens - the valley of the river Kizgych, the stone elevation of Tyubeteika and simply charming forests and mountains.

Dolmens: Secrets of the Past

Only ten kilometers from Arkhyz were discovered the ruins of an ancient city. Modern historians call this place Alan fortress. In their opinion, here many centuries ago the residence of the Alan kings, as well as the political center of Alanya, was located.

Not far from this site are the dolmens - one of the oldest human constructions. In fact, they are monolithic, that is, made of solid stone and blocks, gravestones. Despite the fact that the dolmens are almost completely destroyed and the slabs are deeply embedded in the ground, they are a magical spectacle due to the ancient runic writings on them. Probably, they have a ritual character. There are hardly distinguishable images of animals, various crosses and other symbols and patterns.

With the dolmens are associated several ancient legends, based on the idea that there used to be once lived 2 civilizations - Humans-Gods and Men-Beasts. And the dolmens, according to these legends, were created in order to share these two worlds. According to legend, in the valley there is still a crossroads of worlds, working by the clock. So, in the morning tourists can safely travel to the local places, but after 16:00 it's better not to take chances.

According to eyewitnesses, with the onset of this time a person begins to feel the influence of local waves emanating from the ground. Under their influence, strange things begin to happen: a person can walk along a well-known path, but never get to the desired place. Here, the compasses and even GPRS-navigators cease to work. Believe it or not - it's your business, but still we advise you to be more careful and not to walk in these mysterious places for too long.

In addition, if you are fascinated by the beauty of the dolmens, visit Gelendzhik , which is rich in these ancient buildings.

In general, talk about Arkhyz and its sights can be for hours, there is exactly something to see. And really, than to read and listen about the beauties of the reserved highlands, it's better to come and see everything yourself. Do not forget to include in the list of places that are required to visit the old temples, the astrophysical laboratory, the observatory of the RAS, the miraculous "Face of Christ".
