How to glue the ears of a pug?

During the period when a puppy of a pug begins to grow actively, and his teeth change, changes occur with his ear cartilage: it "breaks." This process can last a long time, and there are cases that the cartilage does not get into place. Therefore, the owner of the dog shows questions: what to do with it, why glue the ears of a pug and how do they glue them? Let's try to answer them together.

Pugs have three forms of ears:

The shape of the ear "button" is most preferable. The standard and "rose" is also acceptable, but a "false rose" and raznoochist for pugs are absolutely undesirable. Therefore, the shape of the ears in the pugs is adjusted so as to give them the same position and the appearance of the "button". In addition to cosmetic deficiency, the shape of the "rose", and especially the "false rose", poorly protects the pug's ear from dirt, water and strong wind. This can lead even to dog disease.

How correctly to glue ears to a pug?

  1. With the correct shape of the "button" the puppy's ear hangs on the cartilage, as if on an arc. But when wringing an ear cartilage folds in half. This can be seen in the figure.
  2. To correct the contour of the ear, first level it, straightening the broken eye with a finger. Then turn the sides of the tab to each other, as shown by the arrow.
  3. Cut off a piece of patch about 10 cm long and put it on the ear of the puppy. It is best to use a hypoallergenic patch, gluing it as high as possible, so that the cartilage is more tightly fixed. However, do not overdo it: the dog should not feel any discomfort. So the head of a pug must look like with properly glued ears.

More often than not, this procedure does not cause any inconvenience to the puppies. However, you should watch his ears, so that there is no irritation and redness from the plaster. If this happens, remove the band-aid and let the ears rest for a while, then repeat the procedure.

In this way, you need to glue the ears of a pug for one and a half to two weeks or until the patch itself disappears. While the ears will keep the correct shape, the band-aid is not needed, but once the puppy's ear "breaks", an adjustment is needed again. Usually, after reaching the age of one year, the ears of the pug get the right shape, but sometimes it happens that the adhesive needs to be glued up to two years.
