How to make a kunai from paper?

The technique of origami is so vast that it allows you to make paper not only from the usual cranes or ships , but even very, it would seem, complex products. For example, samples of unusual Japanese weapons. Let's try to make kunai from paper, so as to make sure on your own experience how easy it is.

Kunai from paper with your own hands

Prepare several sheets of paper. It can be black, white, silvery or any other color - depending on what kunai you want to do. Sheets of paper must be square.

To make a Kunai blade, in its shape resembling a fish, we will, according to the following scheme, origami of paper.

Performance:

  1. For this, the first leaf is folded diagonally in such a way that an isosceles triangle is obtained.
  2. Then add it again - now our triangle has decreased by half.
  3. Do the opposite, unfold the resulting triangle. Now it has a fold. Try to smooth all the folds well, so that later they easily bend in different directions - this is one of the unspoken rules of origami art.
  4. The side of the triangle is bent down, pressing to the fold line. Repeat this action for the opposite side.
  5. Now fold the resulting figure into a single triangle, bending it in half. At the same time sticking out small "tails" are removed inside the blade.
  6. You've got a long and still flat figure, which is a pyramid with four facets (folds). Straighten it and do volume, gently pressing your fingers on opposite sides. By the way, the real kunai blade is not sharpened, just like the faces themselves. Interestingly, the kunai was originally used as an agricultural and auxiliary tool, such as a shovel or hammer.
  7. Now let's start making a paper handle of the kunai, which in the original is iron, as well as the blade. Take the second square of paper and fold it several times, resulting in a long narrow strip or tube. This will be the hilt of the kunai. To prevent the paper from turning around, fix it with tape, preferably along the entire length.
  8. Insert the resulting paper tube into the hole of the blade, which we made in paragraphs 1-8 of this master class.
  9. Make the handle flat and make sure it fits comfortably in your hand. This is important if you are going to use kunai in games like cosplay.
  10. At the end of the handle is a ring. In this instrument it performs both decorative function and practical, because Japanese ninjas often used kunai in combination with a rope to climb a wall or a tree.
  11. Such a paper ring is easy to make by twisting a flat paper tube several turns. The more these turns, the more even and round you get the ring.
  12. Attach the ring to the end of the handle with the usual scotch tape.
  13. If desired, you can put something in the canopy cavity for weight (for example, a coin). Then the kunai can be used as a throwing weapon.
  14. After that, glue the place of connection of the tip and handle with tape or fasten with a stapler, so that the weighting agent does not accidentally fall out.

Now you know how to make paper kunai. It turns out that this is very easy and does not require much time or complex skills. Paper kunai - only one of the variants of Japanese weapons in the origami technique. No less exciting is the production of shuriken, samurai swords, daggers, etc.
