Nurses for chickens own hands

Cultivation of chickens requires compliance with certain rules. Even before buying poultry, each owner is obliged to take care of the arrangement of the chicken coop with the right roost for chickens.

The chicken coop itself can have different shapes and sizes, but the roost must always correspond to certain parameters. It is important to provide a house for chickens with good thermal insulation, ventilation and proper feeding troughs , because these factors are of primary importance for the health and productive livelihoods of poultry.

Dimensions of a chasing for hens

Before you build a roost for chickens, you need to decide on the size.

According to the regulations, it should be half a meter above the floor level. This primarily concerns the roosts for laying hen hens. One chicken requires about 20 cm of perch, which means that 5 chickens can be placed on 1 meter. The size of the bar for the perch should be 50x50 mm or 40x60 mm. To ensure that the chicken does not get injured when bending fingers, do not forget to round off the edges.

It is not worthwhile to make a vertical roost from several crossbeams, even for a small chicken coop, otherwise the chickens on the lower perches will be permanently covered with a litter.

How to make a roost for chickens?

  1. Our roost will be the most primitive. We fix 4 boards of the right size in a rectangle, and the bottom is sewed with any sheet material that is available (thin plywood, tin, orgalite, boards or any sheet panels).
  2. Attach the brusochki along the whole perimeter of the inner wall of the structure. They will keep the net through which the droppings fall. The grid should be large and strong, so that the hens walking along it do not fail. To the manufactured box we will attach the stands, on which a removable roost will be installed.
  3. Nastest we will make removable so that it can be easily cleaned and washed. The crossbar (roost) is made of a bar with pitted faces.
  4. In the tray, fill in a few sawdust. Cleaning of this tray should be done once a week. By this time impregnated filth of sawdust begin to emit a smell. With sawdust, it is possible to slightly pour layers of manure.
  5. If the hens during the day walk on the street, the boxes of the perch will be filled only when the bird sits down for the night, which means that they will have to be cleaned less often.
