Chow-chow is one of the most beautiful dogs. The breed of chow-chow dogs is very ancient, known for more than 2 thousand years. It is believed that it is one of the first breeds that originated from a wolf. Initially, the Chow Chow were common in the steppes of China and Mongolia.

Its modern name the dog received only a hundred years ago, before that it was called the Tibetan mastiff, a barbarian dog, a Tatar dog. Chows were used as hunting dogs, dogs of reindeer breeders, they served for protection and even as sled dogs. Thoroughbred chows were bred in Buddhist monasteries and the "secrecy" from the breed was removed in 1785, then the Chow became known in Europe from foreign books where the descriptions of the dog met. In the 1830s, in England, they began to improve this breed.

Characteristics of the breed chow-chow

Chow-chow are like big toys with elegant wool and blue tongue. The character is not toy. Dogs are independent, they recognize only one owner. Chow-chow have a low degree of learning ability and low level of command execution, they are not very active. Despite this, with proper training and care the dog grows cheerful, kind and understanding, although, as a rule, shows its love only to a close environment.

The chow-chow males reach a height of 48-56 cm, females - 46-51 cm. The weight of males is 25-32 kg, females - 20-27 kg. These wonderful dogs live 9-15 years.

The content of chow-chow is not a troublesome business. Thanks to calmness and poise, today these dogs are common pets, warm, soft, fluffy. They get along well in the apartments, although they like spacious rooms.
