Malta Airport (also known as Luqa Airport, located near the municipality of Lua, is the only international airport in the country, it is located about five kilometers from the capital of Malta - Valletta .

A bit of history

Until 1920, the Malta airport was used exclusively for military purposes. Civil aircraft began to fly here much later. The passenger terminal was opened only in 1958, and in 1977 major repairs were carried out, the main result of which was a new take-off strip. Already in 1992, with the advent of a new terminal, Malta Airport acquired a modern look.

The terminal of Malta International Airport is relatively small. There is no fuss and bustle usual for such places - everything is quite calm and measured. How to get there?

Malta airport can be reached from the capital by bus number 8, which runs between the airport and Valletta every twenty minutes. There are other intercity buses. The fare is about one euro.
