Corneal callus

After a fracture, a new growth occurs in the process of bone fusion, called a callus. It is very important to determine in time the wrong healing and development of this pathology, since it can, in addition to pain, cause a lot of trouble.

Principle of callus formation

The formation of bone callus with a fracture is a fairly common phenomenon and does not require any intervention until a certain time. This is due to the fact that with the intergrowth of damaged bone, this formation indicates the healing and formation of bone tissue. With the correct and successful course of this process, the callus, in the end, should dissolve itself. During the first week after the fracture, a provisional callus is formed, and a little later - an osteoid tissue. The latter, in turn, is able to turn into both cartilaginous and bone tissue. In the future, from the cells of the periosteum and endostasis, the bone callus itself is formed directly.

Very often, the formation of the bone callus occurs after a fracture of the clavicle and is accompanied by unpleasant and painful sensations, as well as changes in the bone itself. Usually, it occurs within 1-1.5 months and when spliced collarbone dissolves itself. But there are cases when such pathogenic formation is excessive and requires immediate treatment.

One of the vivid examples of this is the consequences of rhinoplasty. Now very often people turn to plastic surgery, which helps to change the structure of the nose. As a result of this procedure, the stitching of the nasal bone is gradual. In ten cases of one hundred with rhinoplasty, a callus appears. This process is also quite normal, as with any other fusion. Its formation can occur within 3 months, and after that - it will grow into bone tissue. But the formation of calluses in this case can negate the whole essence of the operation.

It is worth noting that the bone callus on X-ray appears as a slightly darkened area, although there are cases when it is difficult to determine.

Necessary treatment of callus

In most cases, this callus is not detected, especially when it does not bother at all. But with painful sensations they perform a certain treatment to eliminate them. If such an education appeared after rhinoplasty, then the only option is surgical removal.

Treatment of bone callus in case of fracture includes the following measures:

  1. Fix corns and relieve physical activity.
  2. Protect the place of injury from temperature changes.
  3. Assign physiotherapy.
  4. Recommend special food.

If we talk about special physiotherapeutic procedures, then the heating of the problem zone (thermotherapy) plays an important role here. No less effective is electrophoresis, which helps to fight against such unwanted growths. The use of magnetotherapy also favorably affects the treatment and shortens the healing process.

As folk remedies are used lotions and compresses from the decoction of such medicinal herbs as:

A soothing and relaxing effect possesses the following compress:

  1. In a half cup of decoction of chamomile, add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, soda and a little hot water.
  2. Soak the clean cloth with this solution and cover the place that is bothering.
  3. Keep for an hour.

If the abovementioned methods of treatment do not bring proper relief and resorption of the callus, surgical intervention may be prescribed. Although in practice, this intervention is very cautious, because there may be injuries to the bone.
