A frequent complication of infectious diseases and prolonged irritation of the respiratory tract becomes inflammation of the mucous membranes of bronchioles, trachea, bronchi. In medicine, this is called tracheobronchitis - the symptoms of this pathology correspond to its shape and cause of occurrence. There are 3 types of the disease: acute, chronic and allergic appearance.
Symptoms of acute tracheobronchitis in adults
Typical signs of this form of inflammatory process:
- increase in temperature to 37.5-38 degrees;
- dry, agonizing and nasal cough, which proceeds like seizures;

- weakness and fatigue;
- pain in the diaphragm and behind the sternum;

- unpleasant sensations in the abdominal area;
- pain in the lower part of the larynx.
As a rule, the acute type of the disease lasts no more than 10 days (with adequate treatment). During this time, coughing attacks become rare, sputum production begins.
Symptoms of chronic tracheobronchitis
This kind of inflammation is more like bronchitis with obstructive processes, as it is accompanied by almost identical clinical manifestations:
- separation from purulent or serous sputum cough;
- cyanosis of the lips and skin around the mouth;
- intense chest pain in the chest, worse during a fit of cough;
- pronounced dyspnea even at rest;

Signs and symptoms of allergic tracheobronchitis
In general, this type of disease proceeds in exactly the same way as acute tracheobronchitis, with the exception of fever. However, attacks of dry cough happen, mainly, in contact with the allergen.
Also, with the described form of the inflammatory process in the airway, patients experience difficulties during inspiration, so they take the forced position of the body - sitting, with their back straight and slightly tilting their head up.
