The optimal option for such owners can be a decorative fireplace made of cardboard, which you can make by yourself.
Create a fireplace is not difficult. If desired, this can be done not only by a man-builder, but also by a woman. The main thing is to beautifully decorate such a false fireplace. It is very important that such a fireplace harmoniously fit into the already existing situation of the room. But this self-made fireplace will be an exclusive and original decoration of any room.
How to make a decorative fireplace from cardboard with your own hands?
As you know, fireplaces are wall and corner. Let's look at how you can create a fireplace by yourself, which will be installed near the wall. To create it, we need the following:
- Large cardboard sheets - 2 black and 2 white;
- wooden board for mantel shelf length about 1-5 m;
- sharp knife;
- building scotch;
- wooden plinth;
- molding of polyurethane foam;
- glue;
- gray paint;
- brush;
- wallpaper for a brick or self-adhesive film.
- Before you begin to work, you need to decide where the fireplace will be installed. It is better if it is an empty wall, on the background of which the fireplace will look especially beautiful. First we need to make a portal of the future fireplace. For this we will use a wooden board as a template. Attaching it to a white cardboard sheet, we cut the workpiece with a stationery knife.
- We form the mantel columns. To do this, on the second white sheet of cardboard, bend one section and, using it as a template, outline the line on which the sheet will fold again. The same is done on the second white cardboard sheet.
- By placing the curled blanks vertically side by side, we join them together with the help of joiner tape.
- We expose the glued portal blank vertically in order to check whether it is even in height. If irregularities are found on the edges of the workpiece, they should be cut with a clerical knife.
- From the last black sheet, we cut out the preform of the t-shape, which will be inserted into the middle of the fireplace. If you did not find the black cardboard, you can paint this blank with black paint.
- It was the turn of the mantelpiece. The wooden board intended for the shelf should be well treated with a primer on wood, carefully covering all the scratches and cracks on it. We install the shelf on top of the fireplace.
- Having trimmed the floor plinth according to the size of the future shelf, glue it on three sides to the board. You can use self-tapping screws for this.
- Before embarking on decorating the fireplace, you need to decide which color in your room is predominant. And only after that you can choose the shade in which your fireplace will be painted. In our case, all three walls of the fireplace will be painted gray. The opening for the screen in the fireplace is decorated with a self-adhesive film, from which we cut out rectangles that will be an imitation of brickwork. You can use wallpaper for a brick.
- All corners of the fireplace are pasted with white molding. Similarly, we glue the molding along the edges of the screen, where it will cover the uneven edges of the pasted film.
