Wooden folding chair with own hands

  1. In order to make a folding chair with our own hands, we used the most unpretentious and uncomplicated drawings. The fact is that this model is the most successful and simple in execution.
  2. As a material for our product, we took affordable brusochki 40x20 mm. It is not necessary to look for long slats, the maximum length of the workpiece is 48 cm.
  3. The next stage is the marking and cutting of blanks. At 470 mm there will be chair legs (4 pieces), 4 pieces of 320 mm each - the base under the seats, and two more crossbars 40x20 mm, also 320 mm long. In addition, it will be necessary to cut two blanks into the seat itself 90x350 mm and two pieces 60x350 mm.
  4. All the blanks are ready for us and we can proceed to the assembly stage.
  5. The upper part of the legs must be rounded so that they do not rest against folding into the seat. You can do this with a router, but in the absence of it, it is possible to cut off the edges of the bar with a hacksaw and to process the wood on a rough emery stone.
  6. We drill a hole in the legs and bases, fasten them with a bolt and nut, having a movable swivel joint. Similarly we get the second pair of legs.
  7. We collect the mechanism together, clamp the bottom of the clamp and try to set the workpieces so that the chair is normal in height. In our case, from the lower edge of the stem to the central hole, it was 215 mm.
  8. We drill the holes and fasten the furniture bolts of the legs together.
  9. With the help of screws we fasten the strips forming the seat to its base.
  10. We are assembling the second side and we have got a self-made folding chair, which still requires serious work.
  11. We check that it was going to be laid out and laid out easily and the boards were not rubbing against each other anywhere.
  12. How to make a folding chair, we already know, now it remains to process it, so that the product looks good in the eyes of neighbors and acquaintances. First we take a manual milling machine and round off the edges of the slats.
  13. Some edges after the router turn out to be a little "shaggy", so the whole surface is passed by an additional grinding machine.
  14. Our folding chair, made by our own hands, is already completely smooth and ready for varnish or painting.
  15. We put on the chair several layers of varnish to give it a noble appearance.
  16. The product is completely ready, and you can use it.
