The problem of baldness worries, for the most part, men. This is due to the high level of testosterone and hereditary predisposition. Most often and most effectively, this defect is solved by transplantation of hair follicles. But hair transplantation is also performed in women, for example, due to chemotherapy, intense diffuse hair loss or alopecia for any reason. Consider the main methods of hair transplantation and the procedure for its implementation.
Hair transplantation in women - existing methods:
- Surgery for hair transplantation.
- Non-surgical hair transplant.
Both procedures are performed using the patient's own donor hair follicles.
Operation
During the surgical intervention the following measures are taken:
- from the lateral or occipital lobe of the patient with a scalpel, a layer of scalp with active hair bulbs is cut out, called graft;
- wounds on the donor site of the scalp are stitched;
- exactly the same size of the graft is cut out on the affected area of the patient's head;
- Graft with active follicles is transplanted to the site of a cut out section with passive bulbs;
- the edges of the skin are neatly sewn.
The results of surgical hair transplantation become visible after a while, usually several months (3-4) after the operation, when the follicles are activated.
It should be noted that this method has a number of shortcomings and contraindications:
- The transplanted hair will be markedly different from the naturally growing hair;
- seams, although they heal quickly, will remain forever in the form of scarring, which is difficult to conceal;
- after the operation, all the transplanted hair will completely fall out for 4-5 weeks, before growing again;
- hair will become noticeably less frequent and not become thick;
- there is a risk of skin infection;
- There is no guarantee that the transplanted hair will not fall again.
Seamless hair transplantation
Also this procedure is called follicular non-surgical hair transplantation. It consists in the following:
- under local anesthesia with the help of a microinstrument in the form of a needle (micropunch), the patient's own donor hair follicles from the occipital part are extracted;
- the resulting follicles are placed in saline solution with a constant temperature of 4 degrees;
- the expert carefully studies and sorts the material, selecting only the active samples;
- the number of suitable transplants is counted;
- the necessary follicles are processed by a special compound for transplantation;
- Implantation is performed with the help of another microtool, which is called an implant. This equipment is similar to a thin needle, with the ability to adjust the angle of the hair with growth and depth of implantation of the follicle.
Such hair transplant has the advantages:
- there are no scars and scarring;
- the duration of the procedure is 2-4 hours;
- the scalp is minimally traumatized;
- the wounds in the places of abstraction of the donor material do not exceed 2-3 mm in diameter and heal on the 5th day;
- there is no risk of complications and a postoperative recovery period;
- a high density of transplanted follicles is achieved, so that the density of the hair does not change;
- Microtools allow you to adjust the angle of the hair when it subsequently grows. Thus, the transplanted hair will not be different from the naturally growing ones;
- high guarantees - with proper care, the transplanted hair will not fall out again.
Of the minuses of the procedure, we can note only its high price and possible, albeit in rare cases, the need for a repeat hair transplant.
