The diagnosis of fetal hypotrophy or a syndrome of intrauterine developmental delay is put to the child when its size lags behind the normative indicators for more than two weeks.
With hypotrophy of 1 degree, the fetus has a developmental lag of no more than two weeks. Such a diagnosis is most common, but, as a rule, this lag is due to inaccuracy in the determination of the gestational age, or features of the constitution of the child's body. To determine whether such a fetal condition is pathology or not, additional tests such as Doppler and CTG should help.
The tendency to fetal hypotrophy, as a rule, is typical for pregnant women who have gynecological and somatic diseases, eat poorly or have bad habits.
But, as a rule, the diagnosis of fetal hypotrophy 1 degree, after childbirth is not confirmed.
Forms of hypotrophy
Allocate symmetrical and asymmetric fetal hypotrophy.
Symmetric hypotrophy is said when all the child's organs proportionally lag behind in their development from the norm. Asymmetric fetal hypotrophy of the fetus is a fetal condition when its skeleton and brain correspond to the normative values at a given period of pregnancy, and the internal organs do not develop enough (usually the liver and kidneys).
This form of hypotrophy, as a rule, develops after 28 weeks of pregnancy.
Treatment of fetal hypotrophy 1 degree
If the diagnosis of hypotrophy is confirmed by various studies, then, after determining the cause of this condition, the doctor prescribes appropriate treatment.
First efforts are directed to correction of chronic diseases of the future mother. The next stage is the normalization of the nutrition of the pregnant woman . Her diet should necessarily include meat, dairy products, fish, chicken, vegetables and fruits.
In addition, the woman is prescribed relaxing uterus medicines, as well as vasodilator drugs to improve uteroplacental blood flow, vitamins and drugs that normalize the rheology of blood. Antihypoxic drugs and agents that improve metabolism are also used.
