Single cord with umbilical cord

At US-inspection after 30 weeks of pregnancy the doctor always checks presence of an umbilical cord near a neck of a fruit. And if in the norm near the facial parts of the fetus the umbilical cord can be almost always, then the full cuffing happens less often.

A single cord around the neck - what is it?

Single accent is not pathology at all and can not be a contraindication to natural delivery. It is more important to determine whether a single or multiple cord is entangled with the umbilical cord of the fetal neck , since with multiple entrainments, complications can be caused by shortening the total length of the umbilical cord. But usually with normal childbirth and multiple accusations rarely lead to serious consequences.

Childbirth with a single cord umbilical cord

The birth leads naturally, without resorting to Caesarean section. But hanging the umbilical cord can be an additional risk factor for pelvic or large fetus traction. A tight single or multiple entanglement of the umbilical cord can lead to a narrowing of the lumen of the umbilical cord and fetal hypoxia. For the presence of a single or multiple entrainment, the nodes on the umbilical cord are examined not only with normal ultrasound, but also with dopplerography of the umbilical cord, but whether the cord leads to hypoxia of the fetus by using the cord with the help of cardiotocography (CTG). If the movement of the fetus decreases the number of heartbeats the child also changes the curve of CTG, then conduct a cesarean section.

Prevention of umbilical cord entanglement

Most often, the accusation occurs with polyhydramnios and intrauterine hypoxia of the fetus, when, due to increased motor activity and having the ability to freely swim in large quantities of water, the fetus can reel the umbilical cord around the neck. But even in the normal course of pregnancy, the umbilical cord can wrap around the neck. But the movements or exercises of a pregnant woman can not become a cause of accent, and the accent itself does not interfere with the normal course of labor.
