Why do people with poor eyesight do cesarean?

For pregnant women with pronounced nearsightedness, natural childbirth can be very dangerous. The thing is that during the attempts, when the woman needs to push hard, there is a strain of the whole organism. As a result, there is an increase in arterial pressure, and with it, intraocular pressure. All this can lead to the fact that the vessels contained in the sclera (eye shell) begin to burst.

Even more dangerous situation is observed in myopia (pathology accompanied by stretching and exhaustion of the retina). As a result, with poor vision, and in the event that a cesarean is not performed for this disorder, there is a high probability of detachment of the retina, which is fraught with loss of vision.

In what cases is it necessary for poor vision to have a cesarean?

In medicine there is such a thing as testimony to Caesarean section according to vision. They clearly indicate those eye diseases in which the delivery is performed exclusively by caesarean section.

So, if the nearsightedness of a future mother is greater than (-) 7 diopters - this is an indication for cesarean section operation. However, all individually and at the same time take into account not only the severity of the disorder, but also the features of the course of pregnancy. As for hyperopia, it is not an indication for the operation.

Also speaking about what kind of visual impairment the cesarean section is doing, it is necessary to say about such violations as:

• degeneration of the retina;
• changing part of the retina or injury;
• surgery on the eyes in the anamnesis (usually due to retinal detachment).

Speaking about whether Cesareans are doing with poor eyesight, it should be noted that there are certain eye diseases in which ophthalmologists categorically advise women to become pregnant. First of all, it concerns the degenerative processes of the retina with very bad vessels of the eyes. This is explained by the fact that due to the redistribution of blood during pregnancy, the blood flow in the retina of the eye can be very much reduced, which will lead to irreversible consequences for the woman - increased myopia, and in some cases even blindness.
