On September 16 , the whole world celebrates the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. This day was proclaimed in 1994 by the United Nations (UN). The date is set in honor of the signing by the representatives of different countries of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. This document was signed by 36 countries, including Russia . According to the protocol, the signatory countries are obliged to limit the production of ozone-depleting substances.
