Day of laughter in other countries

The fool's day in Spain is celebrated not on April 1, but on December 28. On this day in the city of Ibi for 200 years, there is a festival called El Dia de los Santos Inocentes, which means Day of the Simpletons. During the festival, the town hall is preceded by a battle with eggs, flour and firecrackers. Officially, the Fool's Day in Spain is called the Day of Holy Innocent Babies. It is believed that more than two thousand years ago, Herod, the king of the Jews, learned of the appearance of a pretender to his throne in the person of the son of the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Then Herod ordered to kill all the children under the age of two in Bethlehem. Today in Spain, Fool's Day is dedicated to the memory of the dead Bethlehem children.

The day of laughter in the UK is also associated with a very interesting story. In ancient times in England, there was a custom - the land by which the king passed, automatically became his possessions. Residents of the town called Goufam did not want to belong to the king, pay taxes to him, and come up with something that surprised him. When the king rode into the city, he saw that the people of Goufam behaved very strangely: some grazed cows on the roof, others wore water in a sieve, others planted birds in cages without a roof. Then the king and his entourage thought that the whole population of the city was just crazy, and that they would not have anything to take from them. Now the city of Goufam is also called the city of fools.

In England, it is customary to play each other only until noon, since it is considered to be a joke after 12 hours.

The fool's day in Finland is combined with the Student's Day and is celebrated on May 1. The day of jokes and rallies in Finland is connected with the village custom - to give comic errands to children during large works. They were sent for some non-existent thing to their neighbors, and they suddenly remembered that they had given it to another neighbor, and the child went on.
