International Poetry Day

Almost every person can immediately name no more than five names of famous poets. But to write poetry in his youth tried everything. And just this desire for beauty, the desire to express oneself and your feelings in the lines keeps a balance between material and spiritual. The history of the International Day of Poetry can be safely described as a striking example of such a balance.

International Day of Poetry, celebrated on March 21

Initially, this date was decided to celebrate on October 15. The initiator of the holiday was American poetess Tesa Webb. And we must admit that she managed to make this date a holiday of poetry. The date itself was chosen for a reason, on this day Virgil was born - the most famous philosopher and poet of all time. The holiday was celebrated informally, but far beyond the States.

Today we celebrate the International Day of Poetry on March 21. His second birth was celebrated in the most romantic city of Paris at the UNESCO conference in 1999. There it was decided to leave the idea of the holiday itself, but change the date. The history of the International Day of Poetry is very short, and the holiday itself is still quite young, but many countries have already picked up this wave. For the first time on March 21, we celebrated this poetic holiday in 2000.

The international day of poetry in many cities is celebrated in a creative atmosphere. This is literary evenings in various cafes, meetings with young and already well-known authors. The International Day of Poetry is now celebrated by many school institutions, and it is a great opportunity to find new talents among young people. It is thanks to this date that city contests of readers and young authors begin to appear, schools compete and this again gives us the opportunity to find talented children.

Gradually gain popularity of cafes, designed in the style of the library, the so-called antikafeh or literary cafes. All this is only an occasion to drink coffee in an unusual atmosphere, but even this becomes the impetus to reading poetry and beginning to search for inspiration.

Do not forget about all kinds of literary contests for all, organized by various charitable foundations. Strangely enough, but patrons are ready to invest in talents, and the holiday has become an excellent opportunity to announce the search for such talents. That is why this holiday is celebrated with great enthusiasm by all schools and other institutions, instilling in the young generation a sense of beauty and developing talents in them.
