Easter Traditions

Easter is an international holiday, but in spite of this, each country has its own traditions of celebrating Easter. And even at such seemingly similar peoples as Russians, Ukrainians and Byelorussians, there are both the same traditions (for example, the tradition of painting eggs for Easter) and various ones. Traditions of Easter in Ukraine

In Ukraine there is such an Easter custom - young guys kindle a fire near the church and bask beside him all night, while their mothers, wives and sisters stand around the church with Easter cakes.

When baking pasque, Ukrainian women with unmarried or unmarried children baked the cake of hope for a successful marriage of their children. To do this, they planted a pask in the oven saying: "Paska in pich, and vie, loltsi ta dіvchata, do not sit, but zamіzh ydіt."

At Easter, the young boys climbed the bell tower and rang the bells. It is believed that those who do it louder than all will be the best buckwheat crop.

On Monday after Easter, Ukrainian guys poured water on the girls. On Tuesday, everything changed, and it was the turn of the girls to pour water on the guys.

On Easter in Ukraine, the guys always built a swing, on which then parks with girls, as well as all children and the elderly, rode. It was believed that during the swing people got rid of the bad thoughts that had accumulated over the winter.

Easter traditions and customs in Russia

In Russia there is a similar tradition with bells. But unlike in Ukraine, it's not the guys, but the girls, who should be calling, but they will be born, accordingly, should not be buckwheat, but flax.

A similar tradition with pouring water exists in Russia. Here, however, do not pour guys and girls, but those who did not go to the church service on Easter week.

In addition, Russians have a custom immediately after lighting the pasks to go to the cemetery to the deceased parents, leaving them a piece of paski and cottage cheese.

There are in some areas of Russia the tradition of walking volostechnikov. They go to their houses and sing songs, and the owners thank them for this with various dishes.

Traditions of Easter in Belarus

In Belarus, there is also the custom of using handicrafts. This custom differs from the Russian only in that I collect at least 8-10 people in Belarus, and do not accept girls and children.

In Belarus, a tradition known as "stele driving" is common. This is one of the varieties of dance. In such a round-up the whole village was invited.

Features of German Easter

The most common and well-known tradition of celebrating Easter in Germany are gifts for children from the Easter rabbit (rabbit). This rabbit in specially prepared nests brings the children colored eggs and various sweets.

Traditions and customs of Easter in England

In England, as in other Catholic countries, the Easter bunny is considered an indispensable attribute of the celebration of Easter. In addition, in England, the parishioners of the church at Easter embrace their church. This rite is a large ring, built of people holding hands.

Some Englishmen honor the tradition of playing for Easter with a keg of ale. It is used instead of a ball, and after the game all participants drink this barrel.

In English parks on Easter, you can see special dances - Morris Dancing. People, usually men dressed in Robin Hood's costumes, dance in parks, squares and just on the streets.

But whatever differences exist between us, in all Christian countries there is a tradition and the custom of richly serving the Easter table. Necessarily on this table should be Easter cake, meat, and other dishes.
