Pemphigus of newborns

Pemphigoid piococcus is just such a term in medicine called epidemic pemphigus of newborns. This disease is very acute, rapidly developing and refers to the type of superficial staphyloderma with a high degree of contagiosity. In newborn infants, pemphigus develops on the third or fifth day of life. Umbilical wound usually serves as a gateway for the penetration of bacteria of staphylococcus aureus. The development of omphalitis begins, and then a generalized infection develops rapidly.

Causes of development of pemphigus

The cause of pemphigus of newborns is Staphylococcus aureus , but Streptococcus and a filtering virus can act as causative agents. Both epidemic and viral pemphigus in children require immediate treatment and isolation of the sick child.

The risk group includes neonates with unusual skin reactivity. This situation occurs with birth trauma, prematurity, toxicosis during pregnancy. Bacteria easily overcome the skin barrier, and the skin reacts to infection by the formation of typical blisters.

Concerning the sources of infection, most often they are referred to medical personnel in maternity hospitals and mothers who suffer from pyoderma. Treatment of epidemical pemphigus of newborns should begin without delay, because high contagiosity can provoke an epidemic outbreak in the maternity home. And if this has already happened, then the medical institution will definitely be closed for disinfection.

Symptoms of pemphigus

This disease is characterized by the appearance on the skin of babies of blisters of different shapes and sizes. In most cases, they are rounded, and the diameter varies between 0.5 and 1.5 centimeters. Bubbles have a thin, thin tire, and the corolla is hyperemic in the periphery. In children, the symptoms of pemphigus show a general intoxication: the temperature rises to 38 degrees, the skin turns pale. In addition, babies become whiny, irritated, give up their breasts, reproach, tear. Bubbles appear, mostly in the folds of the skin, on the scalp, but on the feet and palms they should be absent. If the blisters appeared in these places, then there is a suspicion that the newborns have syphilitic pemphigus, which requires a completely different treatment.

If the pemphigus is mild, the treatment will take two to four weeks. In the presence of complications in the form of pneumonia, otitis media, septic conditions, the recovery period is significantly increased.

Treatment of the disease

The most important thing that needs to be done when a baby has pimples is to isolate it. Treatment of this contagious disease without the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics is impossible. Penicillin is not suitable for this purpose, since the hospital staphylococcus is resistant to it. In most cases, appoint cefazolin, chainin, kefzol, ceftriaxone. Children also prescribe injections of albumin, polyglucin or antistaphylococcal y-globulin. Simultaneously with antibiotics should take bifidumbacterin, lactobacterin, which protect the intestines from fungi and are a means of preventing dysbiosis. In addition, do not interfere with vitamins B, C and A. Affected skin areas are treated daily with a solution of aniline paints. If the doctor deems necessary, then UFO will be applied locally.

For the prevention of all parturient women and medical staff of maternity hospitals, they are checked for the presence of pyoderma, examining the materials from the nose and throat. Regular cleaning, quartz and frequent linen change are carried out in institutions.
