More than 70% of women on the planet suffer from autoimmune systemic inflammation of muscle tissue. This disease is called polymyositis - the symptoms and treatment of this pathology have been studied by medicine for decades, but there are still no exact causes of the development of the disease or factors provoking it.
Symptoms of polymyositis
For the disease in question, several types of clinical manifestations are characteristic:
Articular Syndrome:
- puffiness and soreness of small wrist and wrist joints;
- local redness of the skin;
- limited mobility of the joint;
- arthritis, usually without deformity;
- deposition of calcifications in the skin over the affected joints.
Muscular signs:
- progressing weakness, even to the impossibility of holding light objects in his hand, to perform simple actions;
- severe pain in the muscles, even at rest;
- calcification, myofibrosis contracture;
- atrophy;
- compaction, puffiness of muscles.
Also sometimes there is damage to the muscle tissue of the internal organs. Then the following symptoms are added:
- dysarthria;
- dysphagia ;
- strabismus;
- ptosis;
- diplopia;
- immobility of the face.
If the smooth muscles of the digestive, cardiovascular, respiratory system are affected, the following phenomena are observed:
- anorexia;
- diarrhea or constipation;
- intestinal obstruction;
- intestinal perforation, bleeding;
- arrhythmia;
- hypotension;
- Raynaud's syndrome;
- myocarditis;
- heart failure;
- pneumonia;
- hypoventilation of the lungs.
Traditional treatment of polymyositis
The main approach in therapy is the use of glucocorticosteroid hormones (prednisolone), the dosage of which gradually decreases. It is worth noting that such treatment is effective only in 20-25% of cases of the disease with polymyositis.
If no improvement in the patient's condition occurs after 20 days of the described approach, immunosuppressants (Methotrexate, Azathioprine, Cyclosporine, Chlorambucide, Cyclophosphamide) or a combination thereof are administered.
Treatment of polymyositis with folk remedies
Alternative medicine should be used solely as an additional measure of therapy.
Cabbage Compress:
- A fresh sheet of cabbage slightly stretch in the hands and rub it with an ordinary 72% soap.
- Place the leaf on the skin in the area of the affected muscle or joint, warm it with a woolen cloth.
- Leave for 8 hours, repeat every day.
Ointment with egg:
- Mix thoroughly the raw yolk, 1 tablespoon of home-made apple cider vinegar and 1 teaspoon of turpentine.
- Carefully rub the drug into diseased areas, wrap them with a dense tissue.
- Perform the procedure 2 times a day for 14 days.
Prognosis for polymyositis
Slowly progressive chronic disease has favorable predictions, especially with timely and regular treatment.
Acute forms of polymyositis with the defeat of the muscles of internal organs and systems are less amenable to therapy and often end in a lethal outcome.
