Sheikh Zaid Highway


Sheikh Zayed highway is the main street of the most popular city in the UAE . It is known primarily for the fact that it is home to many famous Dubai skyscrapers (such as the Rose Tower, Millennium Tower, Chelsea Tower, Etisalat Tower and others), as well as major shopping centers.

There are also the World Trade Center , Dubai Financial Center, many of the most famous restaurants in the city. Thus, moving in the car along the highway Sheikh Zayd, you can see a lot of Dubai attractions .

General information

The highway was named after Sheikh Zaid Ibn Sultan Al Nahyan, Emir of Abu Dhabi from 1966 to 2004 and President of the United Arab Emirates from the end of 1971 to November 2004. The highway is part of the E11 - the largest highway in the Emirates. Previously, it was called the Highway of Defense, and a new name was received after the reconstruction and significant expansion, performed in the period from 1995 to 1998.

Sheikh Zayd's highway is not only the most important street in Dubai , but also the longest. Its length is 55 km. The width of the highway is also striking: it has 12 lanes. For today it is the largest road in the Emirates. Despite the impressive size and toll travel (about 1 USD from one car), on the highway often there are traffic jams.

How to get to the highway?

Sheikh Zayd highway passes along the coast practically through the whole city. Along it - almost on all extent - the Red line of the underground is laid.
