Stimulators of plant growth

Stimulants of plant growth (or phytohormones) are produced by the plants themselves, but in small doses. It so happened that some chemicals derived from some plants are used to treat very different cultures that have shown them increased sensitivity. Depending on the type of stimulant, it can cause abundant flowering, enhanced rooting, greatly accelerate the growth and maturation of the fruit. Natural stimulators of growth, development and flowering of plants are used by amateurs and by professional agronomists. If you approach their use wisely, you can get excellent results.

General information

The type of any of the growth stimulants is directly dependent on its active ingredient. Total phytohormones (growth stimulants) are divided into five different groups. They have a different effect on plants, which, depending on the dosage of the drug, can both stimulate development and inhibit it. Some of the hormones can even accelerate the aging process of the plant, partially or completely. It is very interesting that despite the strong opinion that these drugs are dangerous to health, they are actually harmless. One can say even more: the norms of the maximum concentration in the fruits of most of the preparations of these groups do not exist at all. Now let's get to know each of the hormones mentioned above.

Groups of growth stimulants

The use of abscisin (Abscisic acid, Crohn, ABK) is justified for spraying garden trees just before harvesting. They artificially "grow old" the foliage of trees, thereby accelerating the ripening of fruits. And the fruits, processed by drugs based on this hormone, where much better stored. If you use drugs based on abscisin as growth stimulants for houseplants in small doses, then the process of loss of moisture will slow down.

Drugs based on the hormone auxin (Heteroauxin, Speedfol, Epin, Epin-Extra, Kornevin, Zircon, Cytovit) are often used as a stimulant for the growth of plant roots. It also triggers natural regeneration processes, contributing to the restoration of the plant after disease. In addition, with its use, increased kidney formation and acceleration of vegetation.

Preparations based on cytokinin (Cytodef, Immunocytophyte) are also used as a root stimulant. In particular, excellent results can be obtained with its use for rooting cuttings. This substance has the property to cause the inflow of nutrients to the specific place where it was applied. This method of using cytokinin showed itself well when rejuvenating plants.

It is widely used as a stimulant for flowering indoor plants and ethylene. It should immediately be noted that this is the only volatile (gaseous) hormone from all existing. The easiest way to get it from an apple is to cut the fruit in half and put it near the flower. In the process of decay, this gas is released, which acts as a growth stimulant for flowers. In addition, the the influence of this gas is formed more than flowers with female characteristics, and also the stalk of plants becomes thicker due to slowing down of vertical growth.

The hormone gibberellin (Bud, Ovary, Gibberross, Gibbersib, Gibbor-M, Tsveten) accelerates and stimulates flowering in plants, accelerates growth in the vegetative period, increases the germination rate of seeds, and they germinate faster. Gibberellin also positively affects the formation of female flowers in plants.

Knowing the properties of these five hormones, choosing a growth promoter for your plant will be very simple. It is enough to look at the packaging, what is the main active ingredient in its composition. And already from here you can draw conclusions about how a particular stimulant will affect your plants.
