  1. Before you prepare a bed for garlic, you must find the right place for it. Are you going to plant winter garlic or spring, the site for planting it should be selected in a place where meltwater does not accumulate. The place chosen for garlic should be well lit and must be dry.
  2. Start preparation of soil on the selected site follows a month and a half before planting garlic. Since garlic is very responsive to organic fertilizers, you should not skimp on: it is optimal to add a bucket of compost or humus to a square meter of area. But manure can only be applied to the culture that grows on this site to garlic. Planting garlic on the newly manned bed will result in the harvest being spoiled by diseases and pests. In addition to organic, mineral fertilizers will also be useful.
  3. Harvest of garlic directly depends on what the plot was occupied for before landing it. You should not plant garlic after nightshade, or plant it several years in a row in the same place. Beans, zucchini, green cultures and pumpkin are considered good precursors for garlic. But you should not plant garlic in close proximity to these crops. When planting winter garlic, the bed should be released from the precursor plant no later than July.
  4. Winter garlic is best planted on light sandy loamy soils. Preparation of beds for winter garlic is as follows: beds carefully dig through to a depth of 25 cm, while removing the weeds. About 6 kg of humus, 20 g of potassium salt, 30 g of superphosphate per 1 m² are introduced into the dug up land. A few days before the landing of garlic, ammonium nitrate is added to the bed in the amount of 10-15 g per 1 m 2. Dry the soil moisturize.
  5. Rows for planting garlic are placed at a distance of 25-30 cm on a carefully aligned bed. Harvest of winter garlic directly depends on the depth of planting: the distance from the tip of the denticle to the soil surface should not exceed 4 cm. If the garlic is planted deeper, the heads will grow small and poorly stored. Planted on a shallower depth of garlic can freeze.
