Adding plum in the spring

As soon as the sun begins to warm up in the spring, trees return to life in the garden. One of the first is covered with lush white flowers a beautiful plum. But it often happens that after an active flowering on the bookmark of fruit the tree is corny lacking in strength. To drain the fruit, in the spring it will require competent care, in particular top dressing.

What to fertilize in the spring?

To top-dress the plum in the early spring, the tree has only benefited, it is very important to clearly understand the working mechanism of all its systems during this period. During flowering, the plum still has practically no opportunity to obtain much needed nutrients in the usual way: the leaves have not yet turned around, and the roots function on the floor of the force due to insufficient warming up of the soil. Therefore, the care of the plum in the early spring should be directed, first of all, to the attraction of solar heat to its root system. To achieve this goal is simple: it is enough only to thicken the trunks with a thick layer of overgrown manure or any other organic material, preliminary slightly loosening the ground. The resulting pillow from mulch will serve two services at once: first, it will saturate the tree with nutrients, and secondly, it will warm the soil in the near-barrel circle.

Over time, when the earth is fully warmed, it will be possible to zadekorirovat manure layer, sowing in the trunks of any of the siderates or seeds of unpretentious flowers. Another way to feed the plum before flowering is to pour it with a solution of organic fertilizers (in a 1/9 ratio), and then thicken the soil with sawdust or peat. To achieve maximum effect, you can use mineral fertilizers for early spring fertilizing, alternating them with organic fertilizers: one spring fertilize the sink with organic, and the second - mineral complex. Having taken all measures to protect and activate the root system, go to the ground part of the plum, namely to foliar top dressing. If the naked eye shows that the tree is in a depressed state, or if the growth of the branches is less than 40 cm per year, in spring it is necessary to feed the plum with urea solution (40-50 grams per bucket of water) or ammonium nitrate (20 grams per bucket of water).

Feeding of young plums in spring

Care for young plum trees has its own characteristics. So, in the first year after planting, plum seedlings are not fed at all - they have enough nutrient reserves that were planted in the planting pit. Moreover, extra feeding can only harm the young plum - the root system will only develop to the point that it begins to absorb fertilizers only by the autumn. As a result, during the period when the tree should be prepared for wintering, it will begin to grow actively and release new shoots. As a result, in the winter the plum will become weakened, and may die at the first frosts. To prevent this, the seedling is fed only from the second year after planting.

The second year of life of the plum goes under the sign of nitrogen support - after bud blossoming, the tree is fed with urea solution, diluting it at the rate of 2 tablespoons per bucket of water and consuming 25-30 liters of solution per each tree. When the plum comes into the fruiting season, its spring top dressing looks like this: before flowering, a liquid solution of urea and potassium sulfate, dissolved in the proportion of 2 tablespoons per bucket of water, is poured into the stump after digging. This mixture can be replaced with fertilizer "Berry", dissolving it in a proportion of 300 grams per bucket of water. After the application of fertilizers, the stock circle is carefully mulched with a layer of peat or sawdust.
