After learning about what was happening, Madonna and her lawyers immediately appealed to the court, demanding the cancellation of the auction. The singer said that some of the items she had been stolen from her and, until the information about the auction appeared, she was sure that these items were kept under lock and key in her house.

According to the lawyers of the star, in the theft, Magde's friend Art Consultant Darlene Lutz is suspected, who helped her to collect things when moving. Since the items were taken to the organizers of the auction illegally, they should be returned to their legal owner.

Argumenting the inadmissibility of selling her comb, which was also on the list of lots, the singer said:
