Wagon of reserved seats

Outside the window flashes fields, houses, cities and villages, the wheels are beating, and fellow travelers are chatting friendly - this is the picture that is drawn when it comes to traveling by train. However, the journey will be fundamentally different depending on what type of car you choose - compartment, reserved seat, sedentary or general. Let us consider in more detail what a reserved seat looks like and what its features are.

Differences in a reserved car

In the passenger car of the general type, only seats are provided, in a reserved seat car and a compartment there is a separation on the coupe and shelves are provided to lie down. What is different about a reserved seat from a coupe is the presence of closing doors in a compartment car. Of course, it's more comfortable to go to an isolated compartment, which other passengers do not pass through, but there is one plus in compensation - the car of the reserved seats is much safer. That is, commit a crime such as theft or something more wholly immoral than few will dare in front of astonished passengers.

Why the car is "reserved seat"?

This name has no relation to the present, it was formed earlier from the word "reserved seat". This was the name of the special card that was attached by the passenger to the ticket. On the card was indicated the number of the place that the passenger could occupy in the car. All cars were divided into two types: reserved seats - with allocated seats and free-of-charge ones - where passengers were placed in a free order.

Places in a reserved car

If you look at the plan of the car with a reserved seat, you can see that the whole car is divided into 9 compartments, each of which has 6 seats for passengers. Thus, it is easy to calculate how many seats in the car reserved seats - 54 seats. In each compartment 3 shelves are on the lower tier, 3 shelves on the top (bottom odd numbers, top even). In addition to the passenger there are 3 upper luggage racks, 3 compartments for personal belongings under the lower shelves, 2 tables and 2 windows. The location of the seats in the reserved seat is still divided according to the following principle - places in the so-called compartment and side seats. Bokovushki in a reserved seat correspond to numbers from 37 to 54.

Inconvenient places in a reserved seat

Often passengers are worried about the question of which places in the reserved seat are better. But it's easier to first decide which ones are worse. So, lateral places belong to the category of "not the best", since, in fact, are located in the aisle, and even a few centimeters wide already. The width of the usual lower shelf in a second-class car is about 60 cm, while the lower side shelf is about 55 cm. The seats near the toilet are also in no hurry to occupy passengers. One toilet is located near the compartment of the conductor, so it is not avoided, the second toilet in the train of a second-class car is located at the opposite end and next to it there are shelves under numbers 35,36,37,38. Still to the unsightly for travel it is possible to carry a compartment under numbers 3 and 6 (places 9 through 12 and from 21 to 24), since they contain emergency exits in a reserved car. This suggests that there are no windows that can be opened to ventilate the compartment, and in the summer time is a serious inconvenience. However, "branded" reserved seats with air conditioners are no longer a rarity, so the inconvenience of these places is relative.

Additional information about a reserved car

As already mentioned above, in each car for convenience of passengers there are two toilets with washbasins, two vestibules, one of which can be smoked, a compartment of conductors (closing) and a water heater. Knowing the locations of the outlets in a second-class car can also be useful - they are usually located in the area of the second compartment from the beginning of the car and the second compartment from the end.

Now when going on a trip, choose comfortable and cozy places!
