Czech Republic is a small country in the center of Europe, which is among the ten most visited countries in the world. And this is not surprising, because there really is something to visit and what to see. Czech Republic is a country with wonderful architecture, fantastic nature, with a lot of interesting sights, as well as mineral springs and health resorts. Well, if you decided to admire the beauty of this country firsthand, you probably are interested in the question, do you need a visa to the Czech Republic and how to register it yourself? What kind of visa is required to enter the Czech Republic?
Not so long ago a visa was not required for a visit to the Czech Republic, but after the country joined the European Union and the signing of the Schengen agreement, the rules for admission of foreigners have changed. Now you need a Schengen visa to enter the Czech Republic, which will also allow you to visit other European countries of this agreement.
Depending on the purpose of visiting the country, you will need one of these visas:
- transit visa type "A" - allows entry to the transit area of the international airport, as well as the possibility of being in it while waiting for a transplant;
- transit visa type "B" - allows to pass through the territory of the country and is issued to foreign citizens for a period of up to 5 days;
- short-term visa - issued for up to 3 months, in case of visiting the country for tourism, medical treatment, study or other personal considerations;
- long-term visa - issued for a period of more than 3 months, for possible employment, business, family reunification, etc.
How to get a visa to the Czech Republic independently?
The list of documents required for a visa to the Czech Republic may differ depending on the type of visa you need. However, the main package of documents remains unchanged:
- Visa application form. It can be found directly on the website of the Czech embassy. The application form must be completed in English or Czech on the computer or by hand with printed characters. Then it should be printed and signed in places where it is necessary.
- Color photograph 1 pc. size 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm. It is important that the photo was made on a light background and did not contain any decor elements.
- Passport (original and a copy of the first page). Please note that the validity of the passport must be longer than the validity of the visa for at least 3 months.
- Medical insurance for the amount of at least 30 000 euros, which operates in the entire Schengen area.
- Internal passport (original and photocopy of pages with photo and registration).
- A document on financial solvency. This can be an extract from a bank account, a certificate of income from work, savings books, etc. The minimum amount you need to have when traveling to the Czech Republic is 1010 CZK (about 54 dollars) for 1 day of stay.
- Documents confirming the purpose of the trip: reservation from the hotel, agreement with a travel company, an application from the host party for the provision of housing, etc.
- Air tickets in both directions or confirmation of the reservation (original and copy).
- Check on payment of consular fee. The cost of a visa to the Czech Republic is 35 euros or 70 euros in case of express registration.
Further collected documents must be submitted to the embassy, consulate or visa center of the Czech Republic. You should receive a check in your hands, according to which on the specified day you can receive a ready visa. The time limit for issuing a visa to the Czech Republic, as a rule, is no more than 10 calendar days, and in case of issuing an express visa, it will be reduced to 3 working days.
