So, avocado is a tropical evergreen tree, which is called Perseus American. It has a wide crown and grows to 20 m in height. The straight trunk of the avocado grows rapidly and branches strongly. Brilliant leathery leaves of elliptical shape reach a length of up to 35 cm, and flowers, on the contrary, are small and unattractive. But the greatest value, of course, is the fruit of avocado, which, as a rule, have a pear-like shape. They are used in cooking, perfumery, cosmetology.

According to the literature, avocado was popular with ancient Aztecs who knew about its medicinal properties. As you know, the avocado normalizes blood circulation and is very useful for the digestive system.

The avocado grows in the tropics and subtropics: in Central America, East and South-East Asia, Oceania and Africa. In each of these regions, varieties are common. In total there are more than 600 varieties of avocado, the most famous of which are the West Indies (Antilles), Guatemalan and Mexican varieties. The best fruit is avocado in Peru, Chile, Mexico, Spain, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia. But in Russia, where the avocado grows on the Black Sea coast, it is grown mainly as a decorative culture.

Avocados grow at home - it's easy to grow on your own. To do this, you must first germinate the stone in water, and then plant the sprout in a pot with prepared soil. If desired, you can transplant the grown tree into the open ground, but in winter it will need a good shelter. When caring for the avocado tree, consider that it loves constantly wet and loose soil.
