Antistatic linoleum

Nowadays a lot of different electrical appliances are used everywhere, which allows static electricity to accumulate in the room. As a result, in the work of technology there are failures, and when you touch the door handle, we feel a fairly perceptible electrical discharge. This problem can be solved by using a special linoleum with an anti-static coating.

What is antistatic linoleum?

Antistatic linoleum is a floor covering made of PVC, which has antistatic properties, which, when rubbing and contacting materials, resist the formation of static charges.

This type of linoleum is created specifically to combat excessive electrification of the floor in residential and non-residential premises. Thanks to the antistatic floor covering, the risk of fire and explosion hazard decreases, the accumulation of dust decreases, and the negative impact of static on the highly sensitive instruments disappears.

The main advantage of antistatic linoleum is the possibility of its use in rooms with high-precision equipment, where the use of other types of flooring is unacceptable.

Antistatic coating is very reliable and resistant to external influences, hygienic and unpretentious in care. It has good sound insulation, it is resistant to high temperatures.

Linoleum antistatic - technical specifications

The value of the internal electrical resistance of the antistatic linoleum is 10 ^ 9 ohms. When walking, an electric charge arises on it. The voltage in this case is not more than 2 kW. Such a unique ability in antistatic linoleum has emerged as a result of the use of special additives of carbon particles and carbon filaments. This allows to scatter electric charge over the entire surface of the linoleum.

Humidity does not affect the conductivity of linoleum, because it does not depend on the electrical resistance. In this regard, the use of antistatic linoleum is allowed in almost any room.

To the antistatic linoleum special requirements are made. It must be wear-resistant and strong, because any irregularities in its thickness can lead to an uneven distribution of electric charge. Therefore, when laying antistatic linoleum, you must carefully level the surface. For confidence in the electrical safety of the room, the floor covering with the help of special equipment is periodically tested for speed and uniformity of charge absorption.

Antistatic coating has a wide range of colors, which allows you to choose the most suitable option for the interior. Its service life is as long as that of marble or tile.

When choosing an antistatic linoleum, pay attention not only to electrical parameters, but also to the appearance, overall dimensions and permissible thickness of the adhesive layer.

Antistatic linoleum laying

To build linoleum of this type follows at a temperature of at least + 18 ° C and above, humidity 30-60%. Initially, the coppered tape in the form of a grid is laid on the flattened floor surface and grounded. This is done in advance, so that the grid is used to room conditions. Take care that there are no excesses of linoleum or folds. All this can lead to irreversible consequences.

The sheets of antistatic linoleum are glued entirely with qualitative glue, which is able to maintain conductivity. Remember that when laying linoleum glue should be applied over copper strips. The time of work with the adhesive can vary. It all depends on the type of substrate and its absorbent properties, as well as the humidity and temperature in the room.
