First aid for a heart attack

If you feel pain in the left region of the chest, accompanied by shortness of breath, increased palpitations, weakness and dizziness, it may be symptoms of myocardial infarction. You should immediately call an ambulance and start pre-hospital care in case of a heart attack.

How to provide first aid in heart attacks?

The first help in the symptoms of a heart attack is as follows:

  1. If a person is conscious, he must be seated or helped to take the posture of reclining. Thus, you ease the strain on the heart and reduce the severity of the consequences of the defeat of the heart muscle.
  2. Provide access to fresh air, unfasten or get rid of crushing clothing.
  3. Give the patient a pill of Aspirin, before chewing it. This will reduce the likelihood of blood clots.
  4. It is necessary to take a tablet of Nitroglycerin , which will lower the pressure and relax the musculature of the vessels. The tablet is placed under the tongue and dissolves. Relief occurs within 0.2-3 minutes. Nitroglycerin, as a side effect, can cause a sudden short-term reduction in pressure. If this happened - there was a strong weakness, a headache - a person needs to be laid, lifting his legs and letting him drink a glass of water. If the patient's condition has not changed for the better or for worse - you can take another pill of nitroglycerin.
  5. If medicines are not available, do not tightly bandage the hips (15-20 cm from the groin) and the forearm (10 cm from the shoulder) with strings for 15-20 minutes. In this case, the pulse should be probed. This will help reduce the volume of circulating blood.
  6. Before the arrival of a doctor, you must not take other medicines, coffee, tea, food.
  7. If a person has lost consciousness, an ambulance is called up immediately, and before her arrival artificial respiration and indirect heart massage are done.

What to do when no one is around?

If you are alone at the time of an attack, start breathing deeply. Exhale accompanied by a sharp cough. Time of the "inhale-cough" period is 2-3 seconds. As soon as you feel relieved, immediately call an ambulance and take Nitroglycerin and aspirin.
