For this, it is necessary to cut the roots in half with pure garden scissors or a secateur, leaving 2-3 bulbs at each halve. Slices are processed with mashed activated charcoal, then the bushes are planted in separate pots.
Breeding orchids for children
In hot weather on the peduncle, if it does not dry out, a flower may appear instead of a flower, which is used for reproduction. It can also occur on the stem in the axils of the leaves. It is necessary to wait until the children form 3-5 air roots with a length of at least 5 cm, and then cut it from the mother plant. After that, put it in a small separate pot and continue the care.
If you want to stimulate the appearance of children, you should:
- Cut the tip of the peduncle;
- to treat sleeping kidneys with a special hormonal paste;
- arrange a "drought" and temperature drop.
For stimulation to be successful it is necessary:
- keep the room with orchid high humidity and a temperature of + 28-30 ° C;
- regularly make nitrogen fertilizers.
Cutting orchids by cuttings
This method is considered more complicated than the previous one. They can carry out breeding of orchids such as Phalaenopsis, Wanda, Epidendrum.
Cuttings are harvested from the peduncle, which is cut into several parts. On each must be at least one sleeping kidney. Then it is necessary:
- Sprinkle the sections with crushed coal and dry them for 2-3 days.
- Cuttings should be placed in moistened sphagnum and placed in a shaded location with a temperature of + 20 ° C and high humidity. The pot should be covered with a greenhouse or a plastic bag, which will have to be cleaned regularly to ventilate the plant.
When all conditions are met, within 2 months the root system should develop.
