After buying a site with fertile soil, the first couple of years of problems with the crop can be avoided, as virgin soil is very good for root crops. However, in a few years, the quality of the crop will depend entirely on the properly applied top dressing. Soil fertilization in autumn for potatoes is one of the first items in the preparation of land for the next season.
The best fertilizer for potatoes in autumn
In most cases, a combination of organic and agrochemicals is preferred. In autumn the fertilization scheme has the following form for potatoes:
- from organic manure they choose manure or humus and make at the rate of five buckets per square (there is no fundamental difference here, because in the winter fresh manure will also perepreet);
- In the fall, the second component will be mineral additives, and for potatoes preference is given to superphosphates, the calculation of fertilizers is about 30 g per square (of all mineral fertilizers superphosphates are chosen for potatoes, as they fall into the soil long enough in the autumn and the phosphorus is transformed into a convenient plants form).
Sometimes in autumn the soil fertilization scheme excludes the introduction of the first component for potatoes. This is true for lands where infection has been identified or pests have been detected. In such soils, double superphosphates are used. They are mixed with potassium sulphate, the amount of which is exactly twice that.
Often the fertilizer for potatoes is combined with the cultivation of siderates . It is most expedient to grow white mustard on the site after the potatoes. After landing, you do not have to do anything, and in the spring - to dig up the ground directly with the siderates. Not bad after the harvest, while the land is still very loose, align its acid balance. Dolomite flour or ash is applied to each square in the amount of 200 g.
