The development of a corporate code is an important step for any self-respecting company that wants to achieve a high reputation in the market. After all, it is this document that determines the general patterns of behavior, rules and, most importantly, the objectives of the enterprise, that is, outlines the direct route for the organization's advancement.
The corporate code of the enterprise is necessary for:
- adjusting the behavior of employees during working hours, as well as maintaining the company's corporate culture (Code of Conduct and Ethics)
- to increase the investment attractiveness of the company and strengthen its positive image in the market of goods and services.
In addition, the existence of a corporate code reduces the risk of disagreement among members of the organization, and allows you to quickly resolve the conflicts that arise, because it provides clear behaviors for each group of employees, as well as for working with clients.
Although today there are a lot of templates for all sorts of codes, the most valuable are unique documents, compiled specifically for a certain company, taking into account all its features. A well-written code can become a corporate pride, as well as stimulate the company's employees to grow and develop within the framework of their native enterprise. After all, although the goals of different companies may coincide, the ways to achieve them, and, consequently, corporate codes, can vary significantly.
In addition to the corporate code of ethics, there is another type - professional, that is, written for a specific profession, not an organization (remember the doctors' code with the Hippocratic oath). There are many professions with their codes of ethics: journalist, judge or lawyer, realtors, etc.
However, the existence of a professional code does not exclude the need to create a corporate one, because the company always unites people occupying different positions.
Creation of corporate code of the organization
The first corporate codes appeared not so long ago - in the last century. They differed briefly, however, in them, and then there was a place for the main idea.
Stages of creating the code:
- coordination of interests of employees and clients of the enterprise;
- reflection of approved interests and goals in an accessible form;
- development of a criterion for evaluating the actions of employees of the organization (including methods of encouragement and punishment);
- approval of preventive measures to prevent violations of the rules specified in the code;
- the appointment of those responsible for the process of implementing the code and the creation of the implementation plan itself;
- discussion of the document with all employees at the general meeting, making the necessary additions;
- official adoption of the corporate code with the issuance of the text of the code;
- creating the conditions necessary for the action of all paragraphs of the document.
