How to sew a top with your own hands?

The situation when the desire to update your wardrobe for the new season of the year is available, and extra money for the purchase of quality clothing is not enough, it is quite common. But if you have at least elementary sewing skills, you can sew a nice light top for the summer. To make the product look presentable, we advise you to sew a top made of elegant plastic material (there is a considerable choice in modern cloth stores). How to sew a simple top with our own hands, we will tell in the presented master class.

Variants of sewing tops in ladies' magazines and in blogs of needlewomen on the Internet are offered a lot. We present a way how to sew the top fastest. Our product is two-layer: for its sewing, chiffon blue fabric with fine embroidery and shiny decor and a denser silk cream-colored fabric are used.

How to carve the top?

To build a pattern, we take the following basic measures:

• 1 - bust volume;
• 2 - thigh volume;
• 3 - length from the clavicle to the middle of the thighs;
• 4 - length from the clavicle to the center of the bust.

Building a pattern of top

1. In the center of the sheet of paper we draw a vertical line in its entire length.
2. We measure the desired length of the product. We draw a horizontal line through the mark.
3. From the place where the lines intersect, put in each side ¼ of the hip circumference (2nd measure).
4. From the top of the pattern we measure the length to the center of the bust (4th measure). We lay on each side a perpendicular segment, the length of ¼ of the chest circumference (1st measure). We make an adjustment of the sidelines. If the thigh size and chest volume are the same, you should get a rectangle (like on our pattern), in women with wider hips the pattern will be cone-shaped with an extension in the lower part.
5. We give a small allowance (5 cm on each side), because according to the plan our top is quite free.
6. To build a perfectly round cutout armhole, use a small dessert plate. We circle its edge, as in the photo.
7. Stepping back 2.5 cm, duplicate the line of armhole for folding. In the side lines add 3 cm on each side to the seams.
8. In the upper part of the bodice, add 4.5 - 5 cm for the "kuliska".
9. Cut the pattern along the main lines.

Carefully translate the pattern on the fabric. The back and front are identical. Since the top is two-layered, we must have two details of chiffon fabric, two of silk lining.

How to sew a summer top?

Overlay details along the entire perimeter, so that the fabric does not crumble.

1. We measure the hem of all four parts, and, making sure that they are the same, we sew the bottom of the article.
2. We sweep both layers of the front part of the product and the backrest. Then we spend on the executed mark on the sewing machine.
3. We turn the armholes, making the machine line.
4. We turn the upper part of the bodice. We make a double line for the "kuliska".
5. From chiffon we cut out two strips with a width of 5 - 6 cm for making a strapless. Fold each strip in half along the length, make a line on the machine, turn it with a pin, so that the seam is inside the part.
6. We put in the "kulisks" straps, slightly prisboriv upper part of the bodice, carefully secure the machine line.
7. The finished product is carefully stripped off with an iron. Now you can dress up in a new top!

Such a top will help diversify your everyday wardrobe - this model will look great with modest monotonous trousers (jeans, shorts) or a strict skirt - a "pencil" made of dense fabric, and with a long long skirt made of velvet or silk fabric with a refreshing will get a wonderful evening outfit.
