How to make a basket of paper?

These lovely paper baskets will be useful both for storing various knickknacks and for decor. They can be made for the holiday of Easter, Valentine's Day or Christmas. Accordingly, in such a basket you can put decorative Easter eggs, paper valentines or Christmas decorations. Often baskets are used to effectively present a gift (provided that it is a small and light thing).

Paper baskets are made very simply and quickly enough. You will need a beautiful colored paper or designer cardboard, scissors, pvc glue (or other), and a little imagination! And now let's look at some examples of weaving a basket of paper with our own hands.

Method 1: Weaving a basket of paper strips

  1. Before weaving a basket of paper, prepare strips of two different colors. Paper, cut into strips, must be dense and flexible, preferably - two-sided. The width of each strip is 1.5-2 cm, and the length is 30-40 cm. Begin to interlace the strips, alternating them in staggered order. This scheme of weaving baskets from paper is a standard pattern, which is called tissue weaving, because it connects the threads of the fabric web.
  2. Continue weaving until the paper weave reaches the desired size of the bottom of the basket. This will be a square, the length of the side of which varies within 10-15 cm. Now we can begin to weave the side parts.
  3. Make bends of paper strips from all sides, fixing them with glue and metal clips (remove them only when the glue dries well).
  4. Continue braiding up in the same way until you reach the desired height of the basket. Its maximum height will depend on the length of the paper strips you originally selected.
  5. At this point, bend the ends of the strips inward. If they are still too long, you can trim them, leaving 1-2 cm for bending. To finish the work, fix glue the ends of all the bands from the inside of the craft.
  6. Now we start to make decor. From the same thick paper or cardboard, cut out several circles of different colors and cut them out in a spiral. You will get a kind of springs.
  7. Lubricate the backside of each spring with glue and flatten it into a voluminous semicircular flower. While the glue dries, it is best to put a small load on the middle, otherwise the spirals will straighten.
  8. In the middle of the flowers we will use punchy circles of contrasting colors. Such a wicker basket can also be made of dense corrugated paper, but this article can not be used to store anything heavier than New Year's tinsel or decorative Easter feathers.

Method 2: How to make a homemade paper basket from a single sheet of paper

  1. The original way is also to produce a decorative basket of square paper. Prepare thick paper or cardboard (one-sided) with a beautiful pattern on the outside. Divide it into 9 equal squares (in the 3x3 ratio) and make four vertical slits, as shown.
  2. Make appropriate bends so that the resulting paper construction can easily be folded.
  3. Now bend the basket in such a way that its two opposite edges are parallel to each other, while the other two are tilted at the same angle.
  4. Middle squares will fix the central part of the basket from inside - fix them with glue (in a simplified version - scotch tape).
  5. The basket is ready! If desired, you can decorate it with an elegant gift tag, fastening it with a decorative button.

More complex and practical baskets can be made from newspaper tubes , or can be made from natural material - cones .
