Dog collar

Of course, the collar is the most important item among canine accessories. It allows the owner to manage his pet while walking or training. To choose a collar to the animal it is necessary correctly, with calculation on the age of the pet, weight, physical parameters and temperament.

How to choose a dog collar?

Collars can be divided into three main categories: decorative, simple leather and tightening / semi-twisting collars.

A collar for a small dog is usually used as a fashion accessory. There are no special recommendations for choosing decorative collars, except that it should be of high quality, do not squeeze the animal's neck and be easily removed.

For larger dogs, they acquire wide leather collars. In this case, the more massive the dog, the wider the collar should be. To a leather collar to sit well, you must correctly choose its size. Measure the neck circumference of the pet, add 5-7 cm and get the optimal length of the collar.

The collar-hammer is used mainly for educational purposes. This is a collar for training. When the dog is difficult to train, take models with built-in electric shock. So you can control the animal even from a distance.

For large and aggressive dogs, the collar can be used day to day. The dog quickly gets used to walking nearby, does not lag behind and does not pull on the leash, because with a sharp movement the leash tightens and squeezes the neck. For dogs on a leash a strict collar can not be used. The process of dressing a dog with such a collar takes a little longer than usual.

How to wear a collar-stranglehold?

Arrange the collar in front of the animal in the form of an inverted "P". Leave the leash to the ring through which the hook does not slip. Loop the dog's neck around the dog's neck so that when the leash is tensioned, it tightens, and when released, it loosens. It will be good if the instructor shows you how to properly wear and use the collar and use it, since accidents are known because of the improper use of such a collar.

We make collars for dogs with our own hands

Of course, you can buy a ready-made dog collar in any pet store. However, a collar made with your own hands will be beneficial to distinguish your pet from other dogs.

Before you make a collar, you will have to stock up a braid or canvas tape, a metal ring in the form of an English "D", a metal buckle, a tool for piercing holes, scissors and glue.

For decoration, take a ribbon with an interesting pattern for animals, for example, with a stone or fingerprints. For small dogs it is better to take a soft narrow braid, and for large dogs the sling or canvas tape is more suitable.

To begin, measure the girth of the animal's neck. The collar should be so long that it does not squeeze the dog's neck, but it was not too loose. Then we measure and cut off the necessary length of the decorative tape. It should be 5 cm longer than the braid. We apply a tape with a pattern to the braid, bend one of its ends so that on the other side of the collar it remains 2.5 cm, and pin. With the other end of the tape we do the same. Then the tape is attached to the braid or strap. To the tip of the tape does not bloom, you can treat it with transparent glue or sealant.

One end of the future collar is passed through the D-shaped metal ring, put on the buckle. Please note that the metal buckle should be worn in the right direction. Check if the top of the buckle is on the front of the collar. End the braid or slings and bend and sew. Then, in a line or braid with a special tool, pierce the holes into which the tongue of the buckle will be inserted.

Collect the collar and check that the metal buckle works properly and reliably. Now you can put the finished product on your pet!
