Karaite Kenasy in Evpatoria

This is the name of the architectural temple complex. This structure was built about two hundred years ago and is a place of worship of Crimean Karaites, who honor the "Old Testament". The complex consists of the Big and Lesser Kenas - temples, connected by picturesque galleries, in which are located fountains, arcades, columns. In the decoration of the galleries, white marble, oak carvings, engraving of verses from the Old Testament in the Hebrew language were used.

One of the most famous not only in Evpatoria itself, but also in the Crimea, the attractions are located on the embankment of the city. It was built in the 16th century and is the only multi-domed mosque in Europe: around the huge dome are 12 smaller domes and two minarets up to 30 m high.

Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Evpatoria

The Cathedral of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is a beautiful and second largest Orthodox church in the Crimea. It is located near the Juma-Jami mosque. The building was built from 1893 to 1899. on the site of a dilapidated Greek church. The majestic temple of Evpatoria - Nikolaevsky Cathedral - was built in Byzantine style: a huge dome 18 meters in diameter, crowned with a cross, bright decoration of walls, arches, three thrones.

Tekie dervishes in Evpatoria

This building is a unique monument of medieval Islamic architecture in Evpatoria. It was a place-monastery for wandering Muslim monks of dervishes, leading an ascetic way of life. This is reflected in the architecture: simple forms, lack of decorations. The complex is represented by a mosque with a minaret and an inn. The mosque has the shape of a dome octagon, surrounded by cells of dervishes.

Turkish baths in Evpatoria

Built baths (hamam) were back in the XVI century and were used until the 80-ies of the last century. The building is distinguished by simple forms, and also by grace. The walls and floors of the baths were decorated with marble. The Hamam consisted of a dressing room, a dressing room and the bath itself.

The Gözlöv Gate in Evpatoria

Before joining the Crimea to the Russian Empire, Evpatoria was called Gözlöv. The entrance to the city was guarded by the Gözlöv Gate, which was laid back in the 15th century. Quite recently in Evpatoria a new museum "Pirates of the Black Sea" was opened, the construction and interior decoration of which was made in a ship style. The museum is called upon to tell about the history of the sea brigands, their way of life. His exposition is represented by private collections of sailors' items, fragments of sunken ships, old coins, weapons.
