Fenugreek contains a large amount of vitamins and microelements necessary for the body (primarily zinc and selenium). It has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, tonic, diuretic, hypotensive effect, has antiandrogenic hormonal activity, promotes appetite, stimulates digestive glands, normalizes digestion, cleanses toxins and toxins.
Application of fenugreek seeds
In folk medicine, fenugreek seeds are used:
- to strengthen immunity ;
- as an expectorant for coughing;
- to reduce the temperature for colds;
- with pain in the abdomen and for the prevention of intestinal diseases;
- when treating anemia;
- for the prevention of vascular diseases;
- with diseases of the reproductive system;
- when treating alopecia (hair loss, alopecia);
- As an external agent for various inflammations and suppuration.
Application of fenugreek for women
Seeds of fenugreek contain a large number of phytoestrogens, due to which they have a favorable effect on the hormonal background, especially during menopause, when the level of estrogen in the body of a woman goes down. In addition, fenugreek is used:
- to improve lactation in breastfeeding;
- with painful periods;
- to stimulate ovulation.
During pregnancy, fenugreek can not be consumed, because it can provoke a miscarriage.
Application of fenugreek herb
Unlike seeds, other parts of the plant are used much less often.
However, dried and chopped fenugreek leaves are sometimes used to fight fleas and lice, as an external remedy, and also taken internally for the prevention of worms. Young shoots of plants in the eastern kitchen are used as a juicy additive to meat dishes.
Fenugreek application inside:
- Decoction. A teaspoon of fenugreek seeds is poured with a glass of water, cook for 5-7 minutes, then strain and drink. Drink such a decoction can be up to half a glass a day, distributing for 2-3 reception, with diseases of the stomach, the reproductive system and as a tonic.
- Powder from fenugreek seeds. Take 2 grams, squeezed a small amount of water, up to three times a day, with the decline of strength, anemia and decreased immunity.
External application of fenugreek:
- Decoction. It is prepared exactly the same way as for ingestion, but based on a tablespoon of seeds per glass of water. It is used for washing suppurations, ulcers, skin inflammations. In addition, such a decoction is used to rub into the roots of hair to combat their loss and stimulate growth.
- Compresses. For preparation, take powdered seeds and mix with a small amount of hot (but not boiling) water. Ready gruel is applied to the tissue and applied to the boil or place of inflammation for 1.5-2 hours.
